BrainCert is now WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 Compliant – Create an Inclusive Learning Atmosphere With BrainCert!

With the world falling into the grip of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, eLearning platforms began gaining more momentum than it has ever. Today eLearning has become the new normal and it has brought up the question of how much the Internet & the eLearning platforms are accessible to everyone?

According to a survey conducted by The World Bank in 2011, it was estimated that about 15% of the world's population is specially abled. It has become imperative for businesses to invest time & resources to make online training & eLearning accessible to all users regardless of their ability or situation.

Considering the rise in the usage of Internet & eLearning platforms, many countries have incorporated web accessibility into their existing civil rights legislation or have created new ones.

Here at BrainCert, we have always strived towards making our unified training platform accessible to everyone so that it creates an inclusive training & development environment to all its users irrespective of the difference in their ability.

We have improved our web accessibility and has set the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 AA (WCAG 2.1 AA), as a standard for our unified training platform.

What does WCAG really mean?

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are a set of guidelines & recommendations mandated by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). It is aimed at making web contents as accessible as possible to all types of users.

WCAG 2.1AA defines how to make Web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

How Does BrainCert Meet the WCAG 2.1AA Compliances?

BrainCert is fully committed to providing its users a website & unified training platform that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of their circumstance and ability. BrainCert 's All-In-One Unified Training Platform comes with an AI-powered UI adjustment tool that makes accessibility modifications based on a user's individual needs. All adjustments are compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA & AAA requirements.

Some of the Web accessibility compliance guidelines we adhere to include:

1. Text Alternatives: Provide text alternatives for any non-text content so that it can be changed into other forms people need, such as large print, braille, speech, symbols or simpler language.

2. Non-text Content: All non-text content that is presented to the user has a text alternative that serves the equivalent purpose

3. Time-based Media: Provide alternatives for time-based media.

4. Adaptable: Create content that can be presented in different ways (for example simpler layout) without losing information or structure.

5. Distinguishable: Make it easier for users to see and hear content including separating foreground from background.

6. Captions (Prerecorded): Captions are provided for all pre recorded audio content in synchronized media, except when the media is a media alternative for text and is clearly labeled as such.

7. Captions (Live): Captions are provided for all live audio content in synchronized media.

8. Navigable: Provide ways to help users navigate, find content, and determine where they are.

Additionally, BrainCert's website also uses an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website's HTML, adapts its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.

While we have set WCAG 2.1 as the standard, we are also fully compliant with ADA Title III, Section 508, EAA, ACA, AODA & IS5568.

To sum up

Today, most countries across the world have made Web Accessibility a fundamental right and it is mandatory that companies strictly comply with WCAG 2.1 guidelines. Businesses will be liable for legal action, if it is not complying with the web content accessibility guidelines that are in place.

BrainCert is always committed to make eLearning accessible to everyone. With the latest WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, we hope to help our clients expand their learning programs and not to keep eLearning reserved only for a few.
